- The British Compressed Gas Association (BCGA) have recommended that all oxy/fuel gas systems should receive an annual safety check by a trained person.
- Regulators and Flashback Arrestors should be replaced after 5 years in service. Do you know how old your oxy/fuel gas equipment is?
- Increased cylinder filling pressures mean that only regulators suitable for the higher pressures can be used safely. Do you know if your current regulators are safe at these higher pressures?
Statutory Instrument 2000 No. 128: The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 requires equipment to be examined regularly.
If not properly maintained, Gas equipment can be a hazard and using unsafe or unchecked equipment could result in serious injuries in the work place.
It is the Employer or self employed persons responsibility to provide and maintain systems or plant that are safe and without risk to health. (section 2 health and safety at work act 1974)
The user of any installed system and owner of any mobile system must ensure that they are properly maintained and in good repair to prevent danger. (Statutory Instrument 1998 No. 2306: The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998)
